#AlpsEpic. Day 2 – #Kitzbuhelerhorn

A great day, but a very tough climb. This was all about spinning the legs after yesterday’s exertions, making sure the road bikes were working smoothly, and sampling one of Europe’s most scenic Alpine road climbs.

The latter two we accomplished very successfully. The former (‘spinning the legs’) doesn’t really do justice to the amount of sustained effort which went into tackling this in parts absurdly steep climb, even if the distance wasn’t intimidating.

The ramps up to 22% on the main ascent are only overshadowed by the even steeper sections on the final couple of kilometers to the top radio mast. To say our quads were given a full further working over would be fair.

It was however scenic in the extreme, and the celebratory strudel at the top was delightful.

We’ve moved on to Zell Am See tonight, ready to do battle with the Grossglockner climb tomorrow. Hugely looking forward to it..
